Airport Düsseldorf

Meeting at
the Gate

The conference center DUSconference plus is located in the middle of Düsseldorf Airport and is an ideal place for meetings, conferences or exhibitions in terms of transport.

It has ten prestigious conference and meeting rooms overlooking the airport apron, which are flexible in size and equipped with the latest conference technology.

Another 15 boardrooms offer space for smaller meetings and conferences with five to twelve people. The numerous Web Corners, Plug-in Workstations and Think Tanks also offer an exclusive ambience and state-of-the-art media technology, where short-term working sessions can be held with a small group of people.

Anyone who holds meetings at this high level needs contemporary, reliable and easy-to-operate media technology. Flughafen Düsseldorf GmbH, which also provided the furniture, and SSP Deutschland GmbH, which was responsible for the media and conference technology and operates numerous stores in the airport, were responsible for the conversion of the conference center. Römer + Römer OfficeCenter from Kaiserslautern was commissioned with the media technology planning and implementation. As one of the most important suppliers of media technology components, Kindermann GmbH from Eibelstadt was also on board. Kindermann supplied displays, projectors, microphones as well as the lecterns, table connection panels and ceiling mounts from its own production.

All parties involved had to cooperate closely with each other, because many requirements had to be met during the conversion. For example, Römer + Römer supplied a complete cable run plan showing where which cables were to be laid. The preliminary work was done by the companies contracted by the airport before the actual media technology could be installed.

Flexible conferences

The DUSconference plus is equipped with ten conference and meeting rooms for up to 320 people, some of which can be combined. The two large conference rooms, for example, can accommodate up to 150 people. In these rooms, Sony projectors are installed in a Kindermann ceiling lift for large-screen presentation. There are also two 65-inch Sony displays on the sides. If the room is enlarged via a folding wall with a smaller conference room, two more displays are available in this room for image reproduction in the back rows.

Both large conference rooms are equipped with Kindermann Speechpoint lecterns. They are height-adjustable and factory-equipped with future-proof connections. In addition, they are equipped with feet at the front and castors on the speaker's side so that they can be flexibly positioned within the room.

In the smaller seminar rooms, depending on the size, there are projection facilities either with smaller Sony projectors or mobile 75 inch displays from Sony mounted on a Conen display trolley SCETAC.

CablePort frame power connection panels are located in every second table in the conference center. A total of 200 table connection panels from Kindermann were installed in the airport conference center. Components of the audio system in the large conference rooms were also supplied by Kindermann . The microphones were supplied by Mipro, as were the receivers. The ceiling speakers and audio matrix were supplied by Extron. In the meeting rooms and conference rooms, Polycom Trio conference telephones serve as the mouthpiece to the outside world.

Boardrooms for smaller meetings

The fifteen boardrooms have a bright and friendly atmosphere and offer a view of the apron or the shopping mall of Düsseldorf Airport. They are suitable for meetings of five to twelve people and have fixed block seating. For image reproduction, each room is equipped with a Sony 65-inch display, which is attached to the wall via chief mounts. A specially equipped boardroom can be used for video conferencing. A Polycom Group 500 video conferencing system was installed here. Another room is used as a creative boardroom. An interactive display from Sharp is located here.

For travelers who only want to discuss something very briefly, the conference center offers so-called web corners, plug-in workstations or think tanks. These are huddle spaces with room for up to four people who can share their digital information via 43-inch displays from Sony and Barco ClickShare.

Digital signage

In the DUSconference plus, digital signage applications are a matter of course. In the reception area, a 55-inch display from Philips welcomes visitors from a technical point of view. Three further displays with a 65-inch screen diagonal are provided in the corridors to provide visitors with further information. They are also from Philips. The door signs are from Samsung.

"In terms of media technology, the DUSconference plus is a highlight of Düsseldorf Airport and will certainly also receive great recognition for international conferences. The cooperation with Kindermann was professional, unbureaucratic and extremely reliable, so that we were able to optimally meet the tight schedule for the implementation phase of only six weeks."

says Sven Horn, project manager at Römer+Römer OfficeCenter.
