DigiMoK

Mobile, digital - great!

The DigiMoK: A mobile, digital classroom goes to school

The Digital Mobile Classroom, or DigiMoK for short, has been touring Saxony since January. It is an offer to all secondary schools to experience the potential of using digital media and artificial intelligence in school education directly on site.

Equipped with the latest media technology and AI tools, the concept aims to reduce reservations and concerns among teachers and demonstrate the opportunities of digital education. This approach was conceived, introduced and implemented by Helliwood media & education at fjs e.V., while the media technology equipment was sourced from Kindermann .

Helliwood is a division of the Förderverein für Jugend und Sozialarbeit e.V. Helliwood combines the specific skills of an NGO with the potential of a digital media agency, thus creating tried-and-tested and highly innovative educational programs.

Helliwood has been active in various educational projects in Germany for over 20 years. Many workshops have been held in schools in the past and they have been on tour with the DigiMok since January 2024. However, this is not the first classroom of its kind, as the first project started in Hesse, where two modules are already on the road as DigiTrucks for elementary school.

The idea behind the DigiMoK

The DigiMoK focuses on two main areas. In order to convey these, it is on site for one week at each school. On the one hand, it aims to demonstrate to teachers in a practical way that digital learning can work quite simply. To this end, the intuitive handling of the technology is presented in order to convey the basic idea of a digital classroom. In addition, AI tools will be presented to show how this technology can enrich the lessons of tomorrow.

On the other hand, the aim is to get pupils excited about future-oriented teaching. Equipped with tablets, they can prove to the teaching staff that using digital media is not a problem for them and makes lessons more effective through interactive exchange. Modern didactics is of the opinion that the interactive integration of student content via screen sharing leads to better learning success than conservative frontal teaching. However, for DigiMoK to achieve the desired effect, one thing is essential: technical equipment that works simply and reliably.

State-of-the-art AV equipment for optimum results

This is where Kindermann comes into play. The Eibelstadt-based company was awarded the contract for this project and supplied the entire AV technology via its partner MR-Datentechnik from Nuremberg. The 86-inch Kindermann TD-1186 touch display is used here in combination with the DisplayShift² manual height adjustment and the KVB120 video soundbar, while the Speakerphone UC BM 35 from MAXHUB ensures optimum voice recording. The TD-1186 touch display impresses with its natural and very precise writing feel, which is made possible by zero-gap technology. Thanks to the support of up to 40 touch points, several people can work on the display at the same time, and the Microsoft Pen Protocol 2.0 is also supported. The 4K UHD resolution ensures a perfect and detailed display. The touch display also has an OPS computer, making it a future-proof investment.

The DisplayShift² from Kindermann enables ergonomic working at all times, regardless of the user's height, thanks to its stepless and easy manual height adjustment. For this display holder, Kindermann has designed a unique spring tension mechanism that prevents the spring from stretching. This means that no "readjustment" is necessary for years.

"We received a recommendation from our network for the media technology from Kindermann and I can say without a doubt that we are very happy with it. The individual components are perfectly coordinated and work together smoothly. In addition, the simple operation via the intuitive user interfaces of the individual devices is a real relief for both teachers and pupils. In addition to the DigiMoK Saxony and the two units in Hesse, we are currently also on the road in NRW with a smaller mobile unit focusing on AI tools. We want to expand this educational project further in the future and I am sure that Kindermann will be part of it again."

Thomas Schmidt, Managing Director of the Förderverein für Jugend und Sozialarbeit e.V.

Uncomplicated sharing of content

To transfer the content from the students' tablets to the large display wirelessly and easily, the wireless collaboration system Kindermann Klick&Show K-FX is integrated into the DigiMoK. It transmits content in full HD resolution at 30 frames per second, regardless of whether notebooks, tablets or smartphones are used. Klick&Show offers a wide range of transmission options: via USB-C or HDMI transmitter, software client, WirelessMedia app or natively via AirPlay, Miracast or Chromecast. This gives teachers the freedom to work with their device. Thanks to USB-over-WiFi, the existing video soundbar and the Speakerphone UC BM 35 from MAXHUB can be connected to the Klick&Show K-FX via USB and control them wirelessly with a tablet or notebook.

The individual products are perfectly coordinated and offer seamless compatibility. This means that external experts can be easily connected to lessons, but remote participation by students at home is also possible.

Making learning fun

Hohenlohe-Gymnasium Öhringen

Hohenlohe-Gymnasium Öhringen is a flagship project that is setting a precedent.

The doors to the new building were opened in April this year and the pupils were amazed. The modern architecture, the light-flooded rooms and the innovative equipment do not make learning easier, but they do make it more enjoyable. All classrooms are equipped with Kindermann touch displays, making lessons interactive and lively.

With over 25,000 inhabitants, Öhringen is the largest town in the Hohenlohe district, the most secret metropolitan region ever, the land of "castles and palaces" and "screws and fans", as the town describes itself. Now you can add "and education". The foundation stone for the new learning center was laid in April 2021. The new building is the centerpiece and the first part of the project; the two neighboring existing buildings are currently being renovated and then connected. With an investment of around 50 million, this is one of the largest construction projects in the city. The general secondary school with a science and language profile offers space for more than 1,200 pupils and employs around 100 teachers.

Innovative architecture promotes modern pedagogy

The bright foyer with the spacious assembly hall already suggests that architects who know their trade were at work here. 24 classrooms and four team rooms are divided up over four floors according to year group and arranged around an atrium and a roof terrace. The glass walls create an open, light-flooded atmosphere.

"From the very beginning, it was important to me that we wanted to turn a corridor school into a learning center with the new building. The innovative architecture has a positive effect on pupils and teachers, learning methods and teamwork. I am very proud that the new concept is already proving successful and is a great enrichment for teaching and learning,

Frank Schuhmacher, Headmaster of Hohenlohe-Gymnasium Öhringen (HGÖ).

Of course, modern pedagogy also includes the appropriate media technology equipment in the classrooms. The town of Öhringen, which was responsible for the tender and awarding of the contract, worked closely with the HGÖ. A committee of HGÖ teachers tested a whole range of touch displays in advance, including for intuitive operation, natural writing feel and the ability to easily mirror content from the tablet wirelessly. This made it possible to specify the requirements for the tender by the city of Öhringen.

The contract was awarded to Lambert Ilsfeld GmbH, a specialist in presentation and media technology, which has developed Kindermann touch displays and the manually height-adjustable DisplayShift2 Wings entered the race with wing panels. Kindermann GmbH Eibelstadt near Würzburg, has a long history in the education sector; some of you may still remember their overhead projectors.

A particular focus was placed on individual use

Every teacher has their own teaching methods and preferences, which were also taken into account when designing the equipment. Whether they work directly on the display, on the tablet, which is mirrored, or prefer to take notes on the whiteboards - all options have been taken into account.

Each classroom has an 86-inch Kindermann touch display with 4K UHD resolution and 40 touch points. Thanks to Zero Gap technology, there is no empty space between the touch and LCD panel, which reduces optical refraction and thus optimizes readability, contrast and accuracy of touch input. This makes writing on the interactive screen feel completely natural. The user interface was developed by Kindermann and can be operated intuitively without the need for training. Each display is equipped with an OPC PC on which the IServ school platform is available.

"We were delighted to receive the order because we have decades of experience in equipping educational institutions and know what is important. Just like our supplier Kindermann, who we can always rely on".

Jochen Lambert, Managing Director of Lambert Ilsfeld GmbH.

The HGÖ provides students with 60 notebooks and 60 tablets for interactive lessons. All devices are integrated into the network and content can be mirrored wirelessly onto the large display. The touch displays with integrated screen sharing function support the display of four screen contents simultaneously.

The invisible DisplayShift2 Wings wall mount from Kindermann is also noteworthy. With the infinitely variable height adjustment, neither cables nor a wall guide are visible. The unique spring tension mechanism designed by Kindermann prevents the spring from stretching. Once set, no "readjustment" is necessary for years. Easy installation was also taken into consideration during development. DisplayShift2 is supplied largely pre-assembled and weighs less than the pylon. The two wing panels on the side give you the freedom to make quick notes.

"We prepared very well and took our colleagues on the journey to digital teaching right from the start. This has paid off, everyone is very satisfied and coping well. What we have achieved is that the system adapts to the teachers and the lessons and not the other way around," says Rainer Dörfler, teacher and IT manager at HGÖ.

In the fall of 2024, the large Meeting space was upgraded to a video conference room. The professional equipment now also enables international exchanges with friendly schools, for example in China. In addition, around 30 touch displays are still waiting to be installed in the other two buildings.

Airport Düsseldorf

Meeting at
the Gate

The conference center DUSconference plus is located in the middle of Düsseldorf Airport and is an ideal place for meetings, conferences or exhibitions in terms of transport.

It has ten prestigious conference and meeting rooms overlooking the airport apron, which are flexible in size and equipped with the latest conference technology.

Another 15 boardrooms offer space for smaller meetings and conferences with five to twelve people. The numerous Web Corners, Plug-in Workstations and Think Tanks also offer an exclusive ambience and state-of-the-art media technology, where short-term working sessions can be held with a small group of people.

Anyone meeting at this high level needs modern, reliable, and easy-to-use media technology. Flughafen Düsseldorf GmbH was responsible for the renovation of the conference center and also provided the furniture, while SSP Deutschland GmbH, which is responsible for media and conference technology and operates numerous shops at the airport, was also involved. Römer + Römer OfficeCenter from Kaiserslautern was commissioned with the media technology planning and execution. Kindermann GmbH Eibelstadt was on board as one of the most important suppliers of media technology components. Kindermann supplied displays, projectors, microphones, and its own production of lecterns, table connection panels, and ceiling mounts.

All parties involved had to cooperate closely with each other, because many requirements had to be met during the conversion. For example, Römer + Römer supplied a complete cable run plan showing where which cables were to be laid. The preliminary work was done by the companies contracted by the airport before the actual media technology could be installed.

Flexible conferences

The DUSconference plus is equipped with ten conference and meeting rooms for up to 320 people, some of which can be combined. The two large conference rooms, for example, can accommodate up to 150 people. In these rooms, Sony projectors are installed in a Kindermann ceiling lift for large-screen presentation. There are also two 65-inch Sony displays on the sides. If the room is enlarged via a folding wall with a smaller conference room, two more displays are available in this room for image reproduction in the back rows.

Both large conference rooms are equipped with Kindermann Speechpoint lecterns. They are height-adjustable and factory-equipped with future-proof connections. In addition, they are equipped with feet at the front and castors on the speaker's side so that they can be flexibly positioned within the room.

In the smaller seminar rooms, depending on the size, there are projection facilities either with smaller Sony projectors or mobile 75 inch displays from Sony mounted on a Conen display trolley SCETAC.

CablePort frame power connection panels are located in every second table in the conference center. A total of 200 table connection panels from Kindermann were installed in the airport conference center. Components of the audio system in the large conference rooms were also supplied by Kindermann . The microphones were supplied by Mipro, as were the receivers. The ceiling speakers and audio matrix were supplied by Extron. In the meeting rooms and conference rooms, Polycom Trio conference telephones serve as the mouthpiece to the outside world.

Boardrooms for smaller meetings

The fifteen boardrooms have a bright and friendly atmosphere and offer a view of the apron or the shopping mall of Düsseldorf Airport. They are suitable for meetings of five to twelve people and have fixed block seating. For image reproduction, each room is equipped with a Sony 65-inch display, which is attached to the wall via chief mounts. A specially equipped boardroom can be used for video conferencing. A Polycom Group 500 video conferencing system was installed here. Another room is used as a creative boardroom. An interactive display from Sharp is located here.

For travelers who only want to discuss something very briefly, the conference center offers so-called web corners, plug-in workstations or think tanks. These are huddle spaces with room for up to four people who can share their digital information via 43-inch displays from Sony and Barco ClickShare.

Digital signage

In the DUSconference plus, digital signage applications are a matter of course. In the reception area, a 55-inch display from Philips welcomes visitors from a technical point of view. Three further displays with a 65-inch screen diagonal are provided in the corridors to provide visitors with further information. They are also from Philips. The door signs are from Samsung.

"In terms of media technology, the DUSconference plus is a highlight of Düsseldorf Airport and will certainly also receive great recognition for international conferences. The cooperation with Kindermann was professional, unbureaucratic and extremely reliable, so that we were able to optimally meet the tight schedule for the implementation phase of only six weeks."

says Sven Horn, project manager at Römer+Römer OfficeCenter.

Westerwald-Sieg Savings Bank

Meeting room with a room-filling meeting table with integrated conference technology from Kindermann

Sparkasse Westerwald-Sieg is one of the larger savings banks in Rhineland-Palatinate as a result of the merger of the two district savings banks Altenkirchen and Westerwald in June 2015. A meeting room with a room-filling meeting table with integrated conference technology has now been set up at the main branch in Altenkirchen.

When you enter the conference room, you see a table that immediately catches your eye with its special design. Not only the dimensions of the oval-shaped table of nine meters length and three meters width are impressive, but especially the integrated technology. This custom-made table contains technology that leaves nothing to be desired and was realized in cooperation between the companies bürowelt², onEvent and Noll Werkstätten.

When the conference begins, 14 17-inch displays can be electrically extended from the tabletop via the media control system. These are Arthur Holm DB2 devices. The series was specially developed for such applications and supports a resolution of up to 1080p (Full HD) in this size. A total of 15 Quickselect 3.0+ transceivers from Kindermann were installed under the table for signal transmission. The special feature of the QuickSelect system is the possibility of daisy chain cabling, which allows a large number of transmitters and receivers to be strung together with one device. One press of the "ShowMe" button enables content to be transmitted to all displays.

Perfect transmission of image and sound

However, not only the picture but also the sound is transmitted via the transceivers from Kindermann . Because this table also hides a whole range of audio technology. Four microphones from Sennheiser were integrated for sound input, which can be moved out of the table together with the displays. A total of 14 speakers from Bose were integrated for sound reproduction, including two bass modules and twelve tweeters from the Bose FreeSpace series.

In the center of the table oval is a futuristic recessed lighting. This can also be operated via the media control system. A total of seven control panels have been integrated into the table, which can be used to control the room's entire home and media technology. Various pre-programmed scenes can be called up simply at the touch of a button; for example, the blinds are automatically lowered as soon as the ceiling light is switched on.

Quickly and securely installed

"Based on our good experience, we decided to use Kindermann Quickselect for the series connection. Thanks to automatic address assignment, it can be installed faster and more securely than other solutions on the market. After integration, we configured the system once and everything worked right away," says Daniel Fuchs, Managing Director of bürowelt² GmbH & Co. KG, Neuwied.

Franziska Schwarz auditorium

The bridge
into the future

The Klinikum am Gesundbrunnen in Heilbronn is the largest facility within the SLK clinics. In order to adapt to the structural changes in the healthcare system in a future-oriented manner, a number of new buildings were decided upon and realized. One of them is the auditorium in the new building of the clinic.

Prof. Dr. Joachim Cyran, Silke Lohmiller and Thomas Jendges ceremoniously took over the inauguration of the lecture hall, which owes its name to Franziska Schwarz. The wife of the entrepreneur made the construction possible with a generous donation from her private fortune. For those involved, it is already clear that the lecture hall is an expression of the reorientation of the clinics - both in terms of versatile and lively use and in terms of modern media technology equipment. Lectures, symposia and advanced training courses will be held here, as well as public events such as "Health in Conversation" or "Culture in the Clinic".

SLK Managing Director Dr. Thomas Jendges sees the new lecture hall as a bridge to the future, also with regard to the media technology equipment, in order to train qualified personnel there in the long term.

Kindermann Systems from Eibelstadt was responsible for the planning of the media technology equipment for the project. In cooperation with dealers and installers, Curd Merkens was in charge of coordinating the project. For example, the regular supplier of the SLK clinics, Lombacher Bürotechnik, approached Kindermann and asked for support in the "Lecture Hall" project. Another example is the cooperation with Hi-Art from Metzingen. The company was contracted to install and program the media technology of Kindermann Systems.

The auditorium project

The central eye-catcher of the Franziska Schwarz lecture hall is the eight-meter-wide and three-meter-high projection screen, which is illuminated by two 12,000-lumen laser projectors from Epson. In addition to the support of lifting platforms, the 350-kg screen required ten energetic men to be assembled. "The challenge was that the projection screen had to be fixed at a distance of 1.4 meters from the sloping wall. The wall mounts therefore also had to be calculated in terms of construction," says Curd Merkens. In order to realize a precise projection, the Epson projectors were aligned to the screen using a laser leveling device. The projectors were also permanently installed in heavy-duty mounts from Chief. The fixed installation is unproblematic because the laser projectors are particularly easy to maintain and reliable, with a light source life of 20,000 hours. The screen is controlled via an EIB/KNX system.

Another challenge was the installation of an inductive hearing loop. Due to the pressure of deadlines, the parquet flooring was already being laid in the rear part of the lecture hall at the same time as the hearing loop was being installed in the front, in order to enable people with impaired hearing to also participate in events. The hearing loop was deliberately moved to the front, as it is customary for the hard of hearing to sit at the front so that they can also read lips. The company Laauser und Vohl, commissioned by Kindermann , was responsible for the flawless planning and calibration of the hearing loop.

The podium area of the lecture hall was designed in such a way that the room can be flexibly adapted to the versatile use. For this reason, a permanently installed lectern was dispensed with. A mobile partition helps to separate the tiered seating of the bleachers from the ground-level podium area so that it can be used as a "conference room" with different types of seating. Connections for the media equipment are located in floor tanks and as wall connection modules in the wall paneling. The modules as well as a large part of the HDBaseT transformers come from Kindermann.

A Crestron 10-inch touch display with intuitive user interface is used to control the media. "A single push of a button is all it takes to have the technology ready for operation," explains Curd Merkens. The control system is also used to control the blinds, lighting and as well as ventilation windows. Furthermore, external devices such as video conferencing systems can be easily integrated. In the future, for example, live transmissions from the operating room will also be possible.

In terms of audio technology, the lecture hall is equipped with loudspeakers from GAE and amplifiers from LAB Gruppen as well as digital microphones from the ULX-D series from Shure. Further external audio systems can be integrated without any problems. The audio system was calibrated by Eventtechnik Metzingen

Everyone involved is happy right from the start. Still on the opening day, mathematics professor Gunter Dueck gave an entertaining lecture on the digital future.

"We are very satisfied with the installation of the media technology and the associated service. Especially the user-friendly design of the user interface makes the operation of the entire technology very easy."

says Tobias Fink, from project management at SLK-Kliniken.

Greuther Fürth

Where meetings
become events

Who doesn't know them, the history-steeped Spielvereinigung Greuther Fürth, with its first team rooted in the 2nd Bundesliga. In February 2016, the old main stand was razed to the ground. Today, a modern new building shines as a new landmark in the heart of Franconia. The new main stand of the Sportpark Ronhof | Thomas Sommer stadium was inaugurated at the end of July 2017 and is conquering the business world.

The modern glass building with its stylish furnishings in a mix of wood, stone and stainless steel offers an excellent ambience for business events and meetings of any size. The flexible forms of use offer space for a conference with twelve people up to a large event with 1,200 guests. The innovative media technology from Kindermann adapts just as flexibly to the possibilities.

"A stadium cannot be operated economically on its own with 17 soccer matches a year. So it was obvious to create an innovative event venue. The very special atmosphere in a soccer stadium and the convenient transport links with proximity to the airport and freeway make us particularly attractive as a conference venue."

Tobias C. Auer, Director Stadium Operations, SpVgg Greuther Fürth.

The VIP Lounge is located on the second floor of the new building. The large plenum with 530 sqm and the two adjoining lounge areas with 70 sqm each offer space for up to 450 people, depending on the seating. The stage was equipped with an 8.4 sqm LED wall. Two 85 inch displays from Sony are placed on the left and right side of the room, so that every participant can follow the presentation. The "Audience" lectern from Kindermann was individually designed in the club colors of SpVgg Greuther Fürth. It is equipped with Kindermann QuickSelect 3.0, which can transmit uncompressed video, audio and control signals using HDBaseT technology via a conventional CAT cable. It is connected via the CAT cable to the technical room, where the distribution of the signals via a matrix to the LED wall and the displays takes place via HDBaseT.

On the second floor is the Kleeblatt Lounge for events with up to 200 people. The partitioning options allow the room to be used flexibly, so that even conferences with 20 people can be held in a perfect environment. The central bar area and the 180 sqm outdoor terrace turn every event into an experience. Throughout the room, twelve displays with display mounts from Kindermann are suspended from the ceiling, perfectly adapting to the variable use of space.

For presentations, a Sony laser projector is used here, which elegantly disappears into the ceiling with a Kindermann Compact ceiling lift when not in use. Projections are made on a mobile Projecta screen, a fixed installation was not possible due to the ceiling structure in this area. QuickSelect 3.0 is also used here, which makes sense because of the long cable runs, as HDBaseT ensures latency-free transmission.

The press conference room can also be used for smaller meetings and conferences. Depending on the seating, it offers space for 50 people. The room is equipped with a screen and a Sony projector, which is permanently installed with a Kindermann Premium ceiling mount. A table connection panel Kindermann CablePort Standard 2 is integrated into the speaker's table. Under the table, QuickSelect was again used for signal transmission.

In addition, twelve boxes in two different sizes are available on the 3rd upper floor, the ideal places of retreat for smaller discussion groups with up to 20 participants. The main box of SpVgg Greuther Fürth is equipped with a conference table, in which two CablePort frame slide connection panels are embedded. As in the entire building, QuickSelect is also used here, which uses the existing CAT line to transmit the signals to the display.

"Working with Kindermann and pave was and is a pleasure. With their advice and expertise, we have been able to realize one of the most modern business and conference centers."

says Tobias C. Auer.

The media technology equipment of the Sportpark Ronhof | Thomas Sommer was planned and realized by pave GmbH in Nuremberg in close cooperation with Kindermann . Kindermann is a manufacturer and distributor of media and presentation technology. With its wide range of products, the company can supply everything from a single source. However, the implementation of projects always takes place in cooperation with specialist dealers and system houses.

Greuther Fürth

Where meetings
become events

Schlösserland Sachsen, headquartered in Dresden, looks after Saxony's state-owned palaces, castles and gardens. A total of 23 distinctive cultural monuments are maintained and presented by the company. In cooperation with non-state cultural monuments, Schlösserland Sachsen presents itself with more than 50 facilities throughout Saxony. Every year, several million visitors from Germany and abroad are attracted by the ancient splendor steeped in history.

The Schlösserland attaches great importance to the satisfaction of its guests and has made this the measure of its success. So it is not surprising that the Dresdeners use state-of-the-art technology to tell the story of their objects. Interactive visitor terminals not only provide information about the history and art of the respective castle, but also encourage visitors to visit other monuments and refer to events.

Germany's oldest castle is Albrechtsburg Meissen. It was here that the first European porcelain manufactory was founded in 1710, which still enjoys worldwide fame today. The 300th anniversary was celebrated with a special exhibition which, due to its great success, is now being transformed into a permanent exhibition. This is the most impressive demonstration of how modern technology and medieval history merge. A total of six displays inform visitors about everything worth knowing. To ensure that the technology also matches the style of the surroundings, the housings were painted white accordingly and thus blend into the ambience.

Eight locks have now been equipped with information systems. The continuous updating of content is handled by the head office in Dresden. For this, Schlösserland relies on the digital signage software easescreen.

"Our good experience with easescreen also convinced Schlösserland very quickly. The software is flexible to use, the low training effort as well as the simple operation make it a popular tool."

René Girrbach, Managing Director of Girrbach HiFi-Video-TV-Service GmbH

The amateur park railway operator is also particularly proud of the installation of passive information systems at the Dresden park railroad, which also belongs to the Schlösserland Sachsen. For more than 60 years, the park railroad has been running on a 5.6-kilometer route through the Great Garden in downtown Dresden. Children and young people run the operation under the guidance of adults.

At the five stations, modern displays are embedded in the wall and provide passengers with information. The jewels of the park railroad are the steam locomotives "Moritz" and "Lisa". Both locomotives have now been under steam for more than 86 years and delight around 250,000 passengers every year.
